Switching Gear
Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera. Yousuf Karsh
Karch’s words speak to my photography philosophy, however, I confess from time to time I dream about new gear. Why does a photographer keep empty camera gear boxes? For trade ins! After ten years with the Fuji XT mirrorless system, I’m returning to my Nikon roots. I’ve been busy this week collecting all the Fuji gear in the house (mine and my husband’s) in preparation for switching gear.
All the bits and pieces are packed and ready for a new home. I’ve learned a lot with my Fuji’s. It’s a great camera, but I feel like I’ve reached the limits of Fuji lenses in my wildlife photography. In short, I want more (back to the confession part).
Friday, I have an appointment at the camera store to trade the Fujis in for a Nikon Z8. I feel like a kid the night before Christmas! My writing has taken a back seat to research and gear conversations with other wildlife photographers over the past few days. Next week I’ll follow up with a tribute to my journey with Fuji mirrorless cameras.
