Finding Light in the Darknes
All is known in the sacredness of silence. - Rumi
I’ve been in the flat zone of writing for weeks now, perhaps even months if I’m honest with myself. Every Tuesday I wonder what I should post here. Yes, it’s always down to the wire lately. I ask myself: Should I take a break? Do these stories matter?
Two things keep me going:
1. My commitment to sharing stories of conservation, to be a voice of for the elephants who changed my life.
2. The comments, emails I receive from readers. You remind me I am not creating in a vacuum. I am amongst a caring community. My stories and images touch someone, somewhere each week. Good company along the way makes all the difference!
As we approach the longest night of the year here in the Northern Hemisphere, let us take comfort in the quiet, the darkness. Let us enjoy the restorative place of simply being and let go of doing.
Wherever you are, may you enjoy the comfort of silence, of non-doing, of rest. May you find light in the darkness. Even when nature is sleeping, deep in the ground seeds are turning and preparing for spring. Allow nature to take care of you. Nature makes no demands. You are enough just as you are. We are all connected, you matter.
Thank you for joining me in this space. I appreciate your company so much. I wish you all the best of the holiday season. May your new year be filled with love, joy and many blessings. Remember, when we take care of nature, nature takes care of us.
