“Thank you. I bow in gratitude for the gift of you that you have shared. The Wednesday morning emails became balm for my anxious soul. You continue to inspire me.”
What We Do For Love
“If we do not do something to prevent it, Africa’s animals, and the places in which they live, will be lost to our world, and her children forever.” – Nelson Mandela
Hello from Kenya!
Jambo (hello) dear readers! I’m in Kenya this week and next (whoot, whoot!). I’ll be back with news, stories, and images for you on Nov. 10th. If I have access to internet while I am away, I will post some photos on Instagram. Follow me @kathykarnphotography!
Going on Safari - Packing tips for Kenya
I’m excited to report I’m off to Kenya this week! This seemed like a great opportunity to outline my packing tips for going on safari. I take 1 wheeled carryon bag, a backpack, and a shoulder bag/purse.
Photo Tip: Get Low
“I’d love to get down low” I whispered. “If we find a good spot you can get out” Pilipili replied. Get out? My heart rate rose a few more levels. Although the bull elephants appeared peaceful and benign, at six tons Big Tusker Tim could flip our truck with one casual swing of his trunk or step on me and it would be all over.
Camera Gear
“They say” it’s not about the gear. Who are “they” anyway? Some say, “You must have a good camera.” Who gives all the credit to the camera? Some comment “You have such a good eye.” There are bits of truth in these clichés.
Dare to Dream
Flexibility is an essential quality when travelling, even more so when travelling to wild places. Would Joseph make this moving target? I had to trust it would all work out. As the landing strip came into view, I could see three trucks lined up along the edge of the runway. Two bright red Maasai tunics stood beside one of the vehicles. Was it Joseph and Dominic?
