Moments of beauty begin to braid your days. John O’Donohue

This week’s inspiration comes from two writing friends who remind me that finding beauty is essential in our lives. Sue Heatherington’s recent posts on beauty included Chris Matthews’ poem Let Beauty. I’ve illustrated his poem with moments that opened my own heart and filled my soul with beauty. Margaret O’Brien invites us to write or draw about one thing each day we found beautiful in her highly recommend journal Weather Report.

Where have you found beauty today?

Let beauty be surprise,

an awakening to tenderness,

kindness and grace,

unexpectedly made visible.

Let beauty be welcome,

the joy of homecoming,

an invitation to warmth and shelter,

a place at the table.

Let beauty be brightness,

hope and trust,

the blessing of frailty and courage,

the friendship of faith.

Let beauty be surrender

to the glorious wonder,

the disarming majesty,

the radiant humility

of love lived fearlessly.

PS I corrected a snag in the link about on banning the reopening of the global trade in Ivory in last week’s story Murder at the Irish Manor House. Thank you to Marijke van Veldhoven for the heads up. I appreciate reader’s comments and suggestions!
