Book Launch Report

There’s a strong connection between visual imagery and empathy; when we see something, it helps us to connect our brains and hearts to feel love and compassion for other living beings. Ami Vitale

The Wisdom of Elephants is officially launched! There was a steady stream of friends and newcomers on Saturday from 2:00 – 7:00 at Strand Fine Art Gallery in London. The youngest visitor was two and the oldest was 100! We even had international attendance. A friend Face Timed her sister in Iraq and gave her a tour. That must be a distance record for kilometers covered to attend an opening at the gallery.

It was great fun chatting with family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. I was able to share stories behind the shots with visitors as they toured the exhibition. The animal print pillows were also a great hit. I was too busy to take pictures. I’m grateful to friends who sent in some IPhone photos.

I am deeply humbled and very grateful for the interest and support I’ve received for this project. People care about wildlife and saving the environment. People care about art. Photography is a wonderful medium for sharing a message and opening our hearts. The show continues to Oct. 8th at the Gallery Tuesday to Friday 10AM to 5PM or by appointment. If you are in the area, I hope you will drop by and tour the exhibit. Both framed and unframed prints are for sale, plus the book of course! A donation of $10 to elephant conservation in Kenya goes with every book purchase.
